设计之初 Before Designing

上海徐汇区的衡山路，是上海最具风情的街区之一，以其独特的建筑风格而闻名。这里有许多历史悠久的老洋房和别墅，展现了上海的历史和文化底蕴。这里还聚集了上海众多创意型机构，展示各种艺术形式和文化活动。

Hengshan Road is the most humanistic street in Shanghai, and now many creative institutions gather on it;

在这众多的创意机构中，一个建筑设计公司以其独特的办公空间设计，向到访者传达他们在城市更新改造中对“极简”“更新”的理解。

现代建筑学已经发展得非常多元化，也呈现了很多思想。一直以来，有个困扰所有建筑师的问题：设计的本质是什么？

At the beginning of the design process, the designers pondered a question that has always plagued all architects: what is the essence of design?

关于“设计的本质”这一问题，原研哉认为“设计是种捕捉事物本质的感觉能力”，那么这种感觉能力一定是强烈并且干净的。

On the "essence of design": Borrowing from Kenya Hara, "Design is the ability to capture the essence of things", then this ability must be strong and clean.

密斯·凡·德罗提出的“LESS IS MORE”强调通过简化和精炼设计，去除冗余和多余的元素，使设计更加纯粹、清晰和有效。

Mies van der Rohe's "LESS IS MORE" has been so popular, but "LESS" is the essence. Therefore, the goal of this design is not only to create a space, but also to reflect the understanding of architectural design.

“LESS IS LESS”则进一步强调了简约的重要性，它认为多余的设计只会干扰和分散注意力，而真正的设计应该专注于功能和实用性。通过去除多余的设计，可以使产品或空间更加简洁、易于理解和使用。

本案的设计师认为，当代建筑设计的发展趋势是追求简约、功能性和可持续性，建筑设计不仅仅是一种艺术表达，更是一种社会责任。

在城市更新改造的过程中，设计团队保留原有的记忆，尊重历史和文化遗产。同时，他们也注入现代感和创新元素，以实现新旧之间的和谐共处。这种设计理念既能满足现代人的需求，又能保留城市的历史面貌。

This is an office space design for an architectural design firm, located in the most charming area of Shanghai, near Hengshan Road, with an area of 203 square meters and two floors. The architectural design firm wanted to convey their understanding of "Minimalism" and "Renovation" through the design of this space.

设计团队带着这样的思考，以直觉为基础，提出了“LESS IS LESS”的设计理念。本项目的设计目标不仅仅是创造一个空间，更要通过这个办公空间作品表达设计师对新旧融合的思考，对“过度”设计和对“炫技”“炫材”手法的反思。设计师致力于创造一个舒适、宜居的办公空间，通过简约而精致的设计来改善人们的生活质量。

Modern architecture has developed in a very diverse way and presents many ideas. The incoming architectural design firm focus on urban renewal and modern space, and their works express some design ideas: for example, reflections on "excessive" design; reflections on "showy" and "showy material" approaches; With such reflections, a "LESS IS LESS" design was created from intuition.

项目背景 Project Background

项目位于上海网红时尚艺术街区The Weave吴界。吴界曾经是上海第九丝织厂的所在地。作为上海的一个历史工业区，吴界保留了许多工业建筑和设施，展现了过去的辉煌和工业发展的历史。

The project is located in The Weave Wujie, Shanghai's online fashion and art district, formerly known as Shanghai's Ninth Silk Weaving Factory;

为了推动上海工业园区的复兴，吴界在2022年进行了改造，打造成一个集艺术、创意、时尚和工业文化于一体的独特街区，成为上海工业园区复兴的示范项目。

After renovation in 2022, it will become a model project for the revitalization of Shanghai Industrial Park.

本项目建筑面积203平方米，分为上下两层。建筑内部沧桑的楼板梁柱诉说着过去辉煌的历史。

The building's interior, with its vicissitudes of floors and beams, speaks of a glorious past;

通过本次改造，建筑设计公司希望在保留历史价值的同时，注入现代设计和创意元素，让建筑焕发出新的生机和活力，助力上海工业园区的发展和复兴。

项目实践 Project Presentation

“LESS IS LESS”追求简约和实用。围绕这一理念，设计师进行了一系列的尝试，通过简化和精炼设计，使空间更加简洁、易于理解和使用。

"LESS IS LESS" is to return design to its functional nature, without redundant design;

建筑设计中没有一个纯装饰作用的构件。座位区与露台的格挡背面即是设计公司的SLOGAN，同时起到遮蔽与昭示功能，也符合这一设计理念。格挡既可以提供遮蔽的功能，形成半私密性，提供舒适的使用环境。同时，背面的SLOGAN标识也在宣传公司的品牌和理念。

There is not a single purely decorative element: the back side of the seating area and the terrace is the SLOGAN of the design company, which combines the function of concealment with the function of indication;

设计师将功能性构件做出建筑学的体量美感：通过钢板将上下楼层的楼梯形成一个嵌入的“黑盒”，创造出具有美感和视觉冲击力的视觉效果，与周围的室内空间形成鲜明的对比。同时，钢板的材质和形态也赋予建筑一种现代感和工业风格，增加建筑的时尚感和个性化。

The functional elements make an architectural volume aesthetic; The staircase to the upper and lower floors forms a "black box" embedded by steel plates.

光线在建筑设计中扮演着重要的角色，既可以勾勒空间的线条，又可以作为泛光照明的构件。

Light is both the line that outlines the space and the building block of floodlighting;

建筑草图中的线条通常具有流畅、简洁和动感的特点，设计师通过将这些线条转化为钢条灯的形态，将建筑的美感延伸到灯具设计中，为建筑创造出独特的氛围和视觉效果。

The use of steel bar lights is inspired by the lines of architectural sketches; reflecting the character of the design firm;

设计师选择裸露原空间顶部预制板，以及局部墙面的混凝土材质，保留了原建筑的工业记忆。通过展示建筑的原始材料和结构，创造出具有工业美感和历史痕迹的空间效果。

Exposing the prefabricated panels on the top of the original space, as well as the concrete material on the partial walls, to preserve the industrial memory of the original building;

在这个空间设计中，设计师充分展现了对于建筑空间“黑、白、灰”层次的营造理念，创造出丰富的层次感和空间深度。

The design of the space reflects the architectural "black, white and grey" hierarchy;

办公室与外面的走廊之间采用了玻璃隔断，既实现了空间的隔离，又保持了视线的相通。内部办公空间采用开放式布局，促进了团队成员之间的设计想法交流，营造了扁平化管理和友好的工作氛围。办公室靠窗的位置让团队成员可以俯瞰繁华的时尚街区，感受到充满活力的氛围。

在这个通透开放的办公空间中，设计师巧妙地运用钢板嵌入的楼梯“黑盒”创造出具有美感和视觉冲击力的效果。楼梯下方的格子空间进一步增加了空间的层次感和灰度变化。

通过这些设计手法，设计师成功地将“黑、白、灰”的主题贯穿于整个办公空间，创造出了丰富而有深度的空间体验。

在“LESS IS LESS”的理念指导下，设计师在办公室的各个空间精心布置了一系列工艺设计作品，如企业名称LOGO、雕塑、桌牌等，创造出简洁而有品味的办公环境。

设计师选择适合的雕塑作品来装饰办公室的公共区域等空间，通过形态、材质和色彩等方面，为办公室增添艺术氛围和品味。

简洁而精致的LOGO设计，放置在办公室的显眼位置，以展示企业的品牌形象和价值观，符合"LESS IS LESS"的理念。

设计师设计了独特而简洁的桌牌，以突出办公室的专业性和个性特点，与办公室的整体设计风格相协调。
