现代的厨房概念，就是通过烹饪时动线的简化和更合理的厨房规划布局，大大降低厨房家务的总量。中国现代厨房的概念引入比较晚，且多是直接就引用了西式厨房的方案。由于没有考虑地域，食谱，文化等因素的差异，中餐与西餐一些烹饪习惯的区别，导致了中式厨房动线，布局的不够合理。中餐在烹饪菜品时，其流程、动线规划与西餐是高度重合的。但是中餐相较于西餐，除了烹饪菜品外还多了个必备环节，就是中国大部分地区几乎都会烹饪米饭。米饭的烹饪过程通常从电饭锅（固定位置）拿取电饭锅内胆（厨具）到米缸（食品存储区）取米清洗，然后再回到电饭锅（固定位置）烹饪。另外烹饪好的米饭装盘上桌后，还是可能会存在再次从餐厅回到电饭锅盛饭的过程。米饭烹饪这一环节，其动线是并非西式厨房的单一过程，而是往复过程，且往复空间除了厨房内还与餐厅有互动。所以米饭烹饪动线应该是独立于菜品烹饪动线的。另外随着时代的发展与变化，厨房的作用也从单一的烹饪过程演变为更精致的生活方式。本次设计案，在现代厨房概念的引领下，结合中餐文化与新世代的生活方式，尝试设计一个更符合现代中国的中式厨房规划。
