人的衰老是一个逐步的过程，提前仔细规划，十年前的设计才不会给十年后的使用对象制造障碍或埋下隐患。1、此套厨房设计方案考虑到老年人的普遍身体机能、生活行为习惯等。如①视力下降——提高室内色彩明度；②记忆力衰退——视觉重点高度设置开敞式中部柜；③不能久站立——设计了一款滚轮脚、可刹车、活动式的可收纳椅凳式地柜；④恋旧节俭好收集旧物——入厨房墙壁粘垃圾袋收集盒等。2、在橱柜的灶台和水池柜、操作台下方均留出650mm离地高度、及600mm台面进深，以方便老人能在坐姿操作时留有足够且适宜的容腿空间。3、厨房分割为中式小厨房和西式简餐大厨房——分隔物为三联动门的优点：①三弯折式三张门板的堆叠，节约了两扇及多扇推拉门两门重叠时的空间浪费，保证足够通行面积。②无需门下轨道，若将来老人需要坐轮椅，方便轮椅畅通无阻地进出，如履平地。4、西式简餐大厨房设置滑动轨道式插座，既满足养生壶、电压力锅等系列厨用小家电同时使用互不影响，也可免去反复搬动小家电的体力消耗。5、厨房通行区域沿墙壁设置一排连续的扶手，到三联动门的扶手处中断，离地高度900mm方便坐轮椅老人抓握、借力。
将空间划分为中厨油烟区、西厨养生用餐区两个部分。①内侧较小区域是中式厨房，三联动门做分隔，阻绝油烟；②右侧较大开放式区域是西式等较简单的烹饪区域，养生壶、电饭煲等厨用小家电均可置于此空间操作；③餐桌为1500*750mm大小，可折叠，老人独居或有人陪护时，均可在此用早餐和清淡简餐。桌板推回时最多可坐4人，完全展开桌面可坐8人，满足节假日儿女亲戚聚餐或厨房内一起用餐或多人同时烹饪。
